Here at Bel Aire, the Spanish program is integrated with social studies curriculum and thematic global projects. We collaborate to plan instruction that introduces Spanish vocabulary and structures through the lens of social studies and school-wide thematic units. This approach allows for a spiraling curriculum which becomes more challenging every year. Through conversations, cultural studies, songs, and interactive games, Spanish comes alive for the students, making it fun and easy to learn. In addition, bilingual assemblies, clubs, and cultural festivals are scheduled throughout the year to celebrate el estudio y la cultura del mundo hispano This website is a dynamic platform which is updated to reflect ongoing learning in the 3rd-5th grade program. Students and interested community members can learn about the program, see ways to help reinforce learning at home and develop an understanding about how the Spanish program at Bel Aire School aims to develop Spanish skills with regard to communication, preparation for the Del Mar Middle School program, and hopes to inspire life- long appreciation for culture and use of Spanish language skills beyond the classroom. |
